Executive Spray Exterior Service – This service is our quality yet economical paint job. Windows and doors will be masked off and paint will be applied to large areas using top quality spray guns then worked into the wood using back rolling techniques to ensure proper adhesion. When choosing a painting contractor make sure that they are back rolling after they spray. The simple act of backrolling adds to the life of the paint job and ensures that all areas are covered evenly. This is especially important when repainting with the same color. Trim and other smaller areas will be applied by brush. With this service we include a 3 year, fully transferable warranty.
Selecting the color for your house can be one of the hardest decisions of the painting process. We will do everything we can to make the process easy for you. We can provide you with color samples, suggestions, and even buy quart size samples of the body and trim colors and paint them on a section of your house so that you can know exactly what the final product will look like. If you decide to go with the same color that is currently on your house, we will have it professionally matched to ensure that your house looks perfect. When choosing a different color to repaint your home it is important to take coverage issues into consideration. Some colors will require two coats in order to not have the old color show through. A light color over a dark color and a dark color over a light color may need two coats. Pressure washing is important in the process because paint should not be applied on top of dust, dirt and other debris. We clean EVERY house with a high-powered gas pressure washer before we begin painting. This ensures that paint adheres to the surface and not to the dirt and dust. After pressure washing we allow the house to dry for 24 to 72 hours depending on weather conditions. Drying is important because excessive moisture behind painted surface moves water soluble pigments to the surface causing streaks.
Our first step in the preparation process is to remove all loose paint. We use carbide metal scrapers to remove any loose paint that did not come off during washing. Areas where paint chipped off are sanded to ensure that the new coat of paint looks even. Rusty nail and other iron work will be scraped with a wire brush to remove all paint, then sealed with the appropriate rust blocker. High gloss areas will be lightly sanded for a proper finish. All cracks and gaps in the wood will be sealed with latex calking.
Priming
Priming is important to the painting process because it provides proper adhesion of the topcoat, prevents peeling, and helps with color retention and fade resistance. It is important to use the proper primer for the type of surface.
- Wood- Bare wood will be coated with an oil-based primer to protect and seal the wood.
- Metal- Acrylic based metal primer will be used on all exposed metal that is to be painted to ensure proper adhesion.
- Masonry- Masonry primer will be applied to All exposed concrete, brick, and stucco surfaces before it is painted.
- LP Siding- All LP siding will be primed using Loxon elastomeric primer to prevent further damage/deterioration.
- Mildew- If mildew is found on the surface it will be primed using a pro-seal product to prevent re-occurrence.
Precautions
Drop cloths will be used at all times in case of drips and spills, roof surfaces will always be covered. When spraying windows will be masked with plastic to prevent overspray. Roof work will be performed with the aid of a safety harness in compliance with OSHA regulation.
Weather Precautions
When painting in Seattle it is very important to take the weather into consideration. Paint should not be applied to a wet or damp surface, as it will cause discoloring and poor adhesion of the paint. We keep a close eye on weather so paint is never applied under these conditions. During a rain day we can however do preparation work such as power washing, scraping and other wood repair.
We strive to make the painting process as less intrusive as possible. Clean up will be done on a daily basis. Some tools may be left on the property, but will be organized neatly and placed under a tarp. A sweep of the property will be done at job completion for any debris or tools. Any remaining paint will be left with the homeowner after job completion.
